Updates on Worldox GX3 Enterprise and GX3 Cloud options


Worldox has officially released GX3 Enterprise.  GX3 Enterprise provides the full experience of using server-based Worldox Professional, but adapted for multi-office and/or remote-access environments using Microsoft published application technology.  It is NOT the same as cloud – instead, the software and your files are hosted on your system, via an add-on server component.

Worldox GX3 Cloud is projected for release Q1 2013.  Similar to GX3 Enterprise, GX3 Cloud is adapted for a multi-office, remote access environment, but the software and your documents are hosted off-site, in World Software Corporation’s data centers.

The beauty of both options are that neither are web-based.  Both options deliver the same rich interface and full feature set that you are used to experiencing with server-based software, but with more options for data storage and hosting.  We’ve been using GX3 Enterprise in our Trumpet office for a few months now, and love it.

Document descriptions in Adobe Acrobat title bars


A request that we get frequently is to have the full Worldox document description (extended name) display in the Acrobat title bars and the Windows task bar.

Looking at this screen shot, you can see why users who work with lots of PDFs have made this request:

I am pleased to say that the great folks at Worldox development have released some new code that addresses this, so now we have the following:

This functionality is available in Trumpet’s Worldox configuration dated 20120220 or above. It is currently available as a pre-release for any interested firms – just open a support request if you’d like us to get this installed for you.

Worldox GX3 – Coming in February


I’m sure that everyone is as excited as we are about the pending release of Worldox GX3 – the announcement has not been officially made (that will come later this month), but we have some information to share with you.

Note that we’ll be posting more articles as we learn more – and our FAQs will have a summary of the most up to date information that we have.  If you want to learn more about Trumpet’s Worldox deployments and other software, please check out or financial home page or our legal home page.

Release Date

Worldox GX3 Professional will be officially released on February 1st, 2012.  Trumpet will begin rolling out GX3 to existing GX2 users after we finish our internal evaluation and testing.  If you are interested in upgrading as soon as we finish our evaluation, please email installs@trumpetinc.com to be placed on the early update list.

What’s New in GX3

A Redesigned User Interface

  • Named toolbar buttons – still one toolbar, but now with the key advantage of labels, as seen in new “ribbon” toolbar styles
  • User configurable toolbars – add, remove or rearrange choices however you like
  • Personalized, configurable folder-tree views
  • New view buttons – a reorganized left-side pane presents new view choices, gives users ways to move between content categories to this visual space
  • Expanded My Workspaces – My Workspaces is now even more flexible, offering the ability to visually bookmark personal folders – yours and others

Enhanced Speed and Integration

  • Speed – a redesigned and optimized architecture delivers data to your screen faster – as much as 60% faster in certain critical operations
  • More 3rd party integrations, connectors and system tools
  • Ability to view Portfolio PDFs
  • Upgraded Oracle Viewer technology built in, for improved viewing, previewing of files
  • Tighter MS Active Directory Integration
  • Better MS server integration, for faster, easier maintenance and setup

New Deployment Options

GX3 can now be delivered in three very different ways:

  • GX3 Professional is the traditional desktop version. Local client/server mode (Available February 2012)
  • GX3 Enterprise is Worldox hosted on-site, in your data center. Essentially being a “cloud”, centralized deployment of the application and documents within your facilities (Available mid-late 2012)
  • GX3 Cloud is Worldox plus all files, hosted in the cloud (off-site, in remote data centers) (Available mid-late 2012)

Trumpet, Inc. Announces Express ProfileTM for Worldox


Phoenix, AZ – January 2, 2010 – Phoenix-based Trumpet, Inc., a global leader in developing software products and services to benefit Worldox® document management users, has announced the availability of Express Profile™, an extremely efficient file reservation application designed exclusively for Worldox users.  By using Express Profile firms can delegate scanning to anyone who can operate a scanner, yet still provide accuracy in filing.

Support staff often does not have time to scan, yet in many cases they are the most knowledgeable about how documents should be filed.  Express Profile enables a firm to direct the time consuming task of scanning to the least costly labor (intern, hourly employee).

Here’s how it works.  Express Profile enables knowledge workers to create filing reservations for paper files.  From there, a scanning operator scans the documents using only the file reservation ID as the file name.   A scanning operator requires no knowledge of how Worldox operates nor details about how the documents should be filed.  The workflow is fast, easy, foolproof!

Using MaestroTM OCR (Optical Character Recognition), another complementary product developed by Trumpet for Worldox users, in conjunction with Express Profile creates a powerful combination.  Maestro OCR provides employees the additional capability to perform full text searching both for and within scanned images.

Trumpet, Inc. Announces MaestroTM OCR Software for Worldox®


Phoenix, AZ and Ridgewood, NJ – June 18, 2009 – Phoenix-based Trumpet, Inc., a global leader in developing software products and services to benefit WorldoxTM document management users, has announced the availability of an innovative Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software application, MaestroTM, specifically architected for Worldox users.  Maestro quickly and seamlessly converts image-only files within a firm’s Worldox system into text searchable files.

A few of the many benefits of Maestro that differentiate it from other OCR engines include:

  • Text conversion is performed as a back end process; the user does not have to wait for the document to be OCR’d in order to save the file.  Consequently, documents get filed and are available to users much faster.
  • Documents do not have to be scanned on-site to be OCR’d.  Maestro automatically processes any TIFF or PDF image-only file that is filed to Worldox that the firm receives through other methods (such as via e-mail or e-fax).  This means that all TIFF and PDF files that are image-only will be converted to text searchable files, instead of just those that the firm scans.
  • Because Maestro runs as a back end process it will OCR everything, including images that have been filed to Worldox in the past.  For firms that would like all their scanned images to be text searchable, including their historical documents, Maestro is the ideal solution.
  • Maestro does not create a separate text file; rather, it creates an invisible text overlay embedded within the file.  This enables a more natural feel to the user whenever they perform a text search within a file (e.g. by providing physical context of where you are in the file).
  • Maestro was specifically created for Worldox and is tightly integrated with the document management system.
